The relationship between Shiloh Church UCC and United Church Homes’ communities – Trinity Community at Beavercreek and Trinity Community at Fairborn (formerly Patriot Ridge Community) – stretches back decades. Shiloh’s congregation has included residents of the Beavercreek and Fairborn senior living communities. At least one current resident of Trinity at Beavercreek has been a longtime church member, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, enjoys FaceTime visits with her daughter through UCH’s virtual visitor guide program.

In the Beginning…

Congregants and church leaders were instrumental in planning and developing construction of the community. Shiloh was one of the largest UCC churches in the Dayton area at the time.

The church also provided much needed financial support in the community’s early years to help older adults age abundantly at Trinity at Beavercreek, a life plan community on a beautiful 40-acre campus. United Church Homes’ current records date to 1983, when the church was among those listed as contributing to the mission of United Church Homes.

Shiloh UCC Fosters Abundant Life

Throughout the years, Shiloh Church has hosted birthday parties, Bible school and intergenerational programming with the church’s youth and young adults.

Alternatively, Shiloh Church has always been an active community partner, with a focus on a variety of missions to serve Dayton residents and families. The church acted quickly after the 2019 tornadoes in Dayton that devastated the area, as many lost their homes and possessions. Shiloh Church’s response was swift. Church members worked with city officials to set up the Shiloh Tornado Resource Center on Philadelphia Drive, and it served as the center for denomination assistance for the Heartland Conference UCC (formerly Ohio Conference) after the tornadoes.

Shiloh Church is the home church of the Southwest Ohio Northern Kentucky Association minister, Rev. Carl Robinson, a longtime friend and supporter of United Church Homes. Rev. Robinson teamed up with Rev. David Zerby, disaster response coordination for the Heartland Conference, and Pastor Jay to coordinate initial assistance for southern Ohio.
