Vivian Van Ausdal turns 103 on April 23, but will celebrate her big day early at a party at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Great Room at Trinity Community, 3218 Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek.
Stone said his family has known Vivian for years.
“She has always been a staple in the community for many, many years be it at the library or the school system. The list of activities she has been involved in has been endless. On behalf of the city of Beavercreek we congratulate Vivian on reaching this milestone,” Stone said.
Vivian was born in Palestine, Ohio and now has lived at Trinity since 2009.
She was married to Gerald Francis Van Ausdal, who is now deceased. She is the mother of four boys.
Vivian earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Arts and Sciences in pre-school education from Miami University in 1937, according to the Miami University.
She was a Democratic candidate for the Ohio House of Representatives 10th District, an English teacher at Beavercreek High School. Vivian was also a member of the Greene County Educational Service Committee, served as the board president of the Green County Public Library and a trustee of the Greene County Library Foundation. In addition, she was a member of Hawker United Church of Christ and had been a volunteer at Trinity for many years prior to moving into the United Church Homes community.
United Church Homes President and CEO Rev. Kenneth Daniel wished Vivian a happy birthday and congratulated her for reaching such a significant milestone. He also thanked Mayor Stone for honoring her and participating in the celebration on Wednesday.
