Using the Vision and Mission of UCH, there are three areas of activity that we are wanting to document:

Creating Abundant Life in Community

Local communities: external

How can we help to build and influence the larger culture and their understanding of Abundant Life?

Examples:

  • Offering educational programs for outside groups
  • Promotion of Community Health Activities
  • Providing space and resources for Community Groups to gather
  • Staff and Resident volunteer
  • UCH financial donations to other non-profit organizations and projects
  • Staff service on boards or institutions

Investment in Transforming Aging

How does our mission lead us out into the larger community to help transform aging there?

Examples:

  • Providing Scholarships, Internships and AITs for the training of professionals in the related fields of aging
  • Offering Internships to students
  • CPE program training chaplains and pastors
  • Promoting Advocacy to help enact legislation and policies affecting Aging
  • Championing interdisciplinary dialogue and education through the Ruth Parker Center for Abundant Aging

Building a Culture of Community, Wholeness and Peace

Within UCH Communities: internal

What are the things that we do IN our communities that contribute to building this culture thanks to the philanthropic support of others?

Or what are the things that we do or provide which we are not reimbursed from insurance, Medicaid or Medicare but are services which we provide because they are central to our Vision, Mission and Values?

Examples:

  • Strengthening the spiritual journey of residents through Spiritual Care
  • Offering Grief Groups or Support Groups
  • Leadership of weekly worship services
  • Resident Chapel committees and designations of chapel offering funds
  • Supporting Resident Volunteer time through their participation in UCH ministries
  • Sustaining quality for residents at risk through Benevolent Care
