Fairhaven Community Earns CMS 5-Star Quality Rating

Fairhaven is a 5-Star Community

CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily.

Nursing Home Compare provides quality ratings to each of the nation’s Medicare and/or Medicaid-certified communities. Each community is rated from one star to five stars based on three critical areas: health inspection results, quality measures and staffing levels.

Fairhaven Administrator Lori Marsh said her team identified quality improvement opportunities, developed action plans and monitored goal progress in daily clinical team meetings to achieve the improved quality outcomes.

“We focused on the challenging areas that all communities must manage such as falls with injury, rehospitalizations and reduction of antipsychotic medication usage,” Marsh said. “We work to provide abundant life for our residents. Working to become a five-star community is challenging and rewarding at the same time because quality outcomes matter and help us achieve our mission. Being able to provide the highest quality care for our residents improves their spiritual, emotional and physical well-being as well as their quality of life. While working hard to achieve a 5-star rating is extremely meaningful, seeing joy and hope on the faces of our residents is as important to me as the CMS five-star program recognition.”

Fairhaven’s mission is to transform aging by building a culture of community, wholeness and peace.
