Athena Gardens Housing Manager Deborah Colella was recently advised by LeadingAge Georgia that her community will be awarded a Distinguished Service Award for leading the charge for healthy, green living—in recognition of the bountiful vegetable garden that was planted, cultivated, watered, weeded, fertilized and harvested by Athena Gardens residents.

The garden, which was designed to deliver healthy, nutritious, low-cost food items for low-income residents, yielded more than 800 pounds of produce last year. Congratulations to Deborah and Athena Gardens for their efforts.
