Chapel Hill’s Burbage Recognized with LUV Award for Demonstrating Compassion, Hospitality, Respect, Integrity

MARION [Jan. 17, 2020] – Brittany Burbage, an administrative assistant at Chapel Hill Community in Canal Fulton, Ohio, has received the 2019 Living UCH Values Award for demonstrating four of United Church Homes’ six core values – compassion, hospitality, respect and integrity. The other values are stewardship and transparency. LUV Award

“Brittany exemplifies all of (these) values just by putting all she has into her work,” Burbage’s nominators wrote. “She is always kind to residents and families. She is very willing to do any job, from state-tested nursing assistant to housekeeping. She is very ambitious and will make an excellent nurse.”

Burbage began her career at Chapel Hill four years ago as a resident care assistant. Shortly after, she used Chapel Hill’s career-path program to become an STNA and later a ward clerk. Burbage has been given additional responsibilities in her role, such as working with physicians to schedule in-house podiatry, dental and eye appointments for residents. When she has a few extra moments, Burbage can be found assisting STNAs with serving meals and helping residents.

“Brittany does what she can to alleviate the workload for any department,” her nominators wrote.

UCH employees are eligible to receive the award throughout the year, and a select few are chosen for the highest honor out of hundreds of nominations. Nominations may be made by staff, volunteers, residents and their families.

“The 2019 Living United Church Homes Values Award recipients achieved UCH’s most coveted staff award,” said Scott Slutz, vice president of human resources. “Brittany exemplifies the commitment to living UCH values every day. We recognize Brittany for modeling the values that have become the hallmark of the United Church Homes experience and commitment to serving older adults.”
