Parkvue’s Bethke Recognized with LUV Award

MARION [Jan. 17, 2020] – Shelly Bethke, a state-tested nursing assistant at Parkvue Community in Sandusky, Ohio, has received the 2019 Living UCH Values Award for demonstrating United Church Homes’ core values of compassion, hospitality, respect, integrity, stewardship and transparency.

A resident of Parkvue’s Ongonz Court Fast Track Rehab neighborhood said Bethke embodied all those values. She demonstrates compassion by coming into work with a smile, sharing her sunny personality with others and reflecting God’s love. Bethke was also nominated for her hospitality because she welcomes resident with loving words, and she respects everyone and watches over all residents with the same passion.

“She walks the walk of Jesus Christ,” her nominator wrote. “Shelly serves Parkvue wisely, and I’m glad she serves me!”

UCH employees are eligible to receive the award throughout the year, and a select few are chosen for the highest honor out of hundreds of nominations. Nominations may be made by staff, volunteers, residents and their families.

“The 2019 Living United Church Homes Values Award recipients achieved UCH’s most coveted staff award,” said Scott Slutz, vice president of human resources. “Shelly exemplifies the commitment to living UCH values every day. We recognize Shelly for modeling the values that have become the hallmark of the United Church Homes experience and commitment to serving older adults.”
