JACKSON – United Church Homes recently recognized a local man for his outstanding support in the annual Four Winds Community Spirit Award Reception.

H. Frank Doenges, the recipient of this year’s Spirit Award, has a long history with Four Winds. In 2014, his knee prothesis became infected, and he began an extended stay at Four Winds. While living there, Doenges, a local pastor, transferred Sunday evening services and the Redeemed Riders’ (Chapter 624 of the Christian Motorcyclist Association) monthly Bible studies to Four Winds.

When he returned home, Four Winds’ chaplain asked him to continue the Sunday evening services to fill a void in the service schedule. Doenges continued providing pastoral leadership until a weekly service resumed in the fall of 2017.

Today, Doenges continues his ministry at Four Winds, where he visits residents and prays with those who request his service.

The Spirit Award is presented to individuals who best exemplify the volunteerism, advocacy, inspiration and spirit for the residents and their families of United Church Homes communities.

Doenges has been a bivocational pastor since 1964. He is a member of the Wellston Ministerial Association and the Scioto Valley Baptist Association. He serves as chaplain to the Redeemed Riders and the Ohio State CMA as state prayer team leader. Doenges also served on Coalton Village Council and one term as mayor.
