Fairhaven’s Schwilk Recognized with LUV Award

MARION [Jan. 17, 2020] – Debbie Schwilk, a dining services assistant at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, has received the 2019 Living UCH Values Award for demonstrating United Church Homes’ core values – compassion, hospitality, respect, integrity, stewardship and transparency.

Schwilk’s nominator said Schwilk went above and beyond to assist a resident whose scooter became stuck in mud on the Fairhaven campus. Schwilk, who has worked at Fairhaven since October 2017, jumped to assist, cleaning the scooter in a shower room.

“Debbie works in dietary but went out of her way to help, not only for the resident’s personal property but for Fairhaven’s cleanliness,” Schwilk’s nominator wrote.

UCH employees are eligible to receive the award throughout the year, and a select few are chosen for the highest honor out of hundreds of nominations. Nominations may be made by staff, volunteers, residents and their families.

“The 2019 Living United Church Homes Values Award recipients achieved UCH’s most coveted staff award,” said Scott Slutz, vice president of human resources. “Debbie exemplifies the commitment to living UCH values every day. We recognize Debbie for modeling the values that have become the hallmark of the United Church Homes experience and commitment to serving older adults.”
