United Church Homes Blesses Ground in Plain City
for New Senior Living Community

Plain City, OH (Nov. 8, 2022)
United Church Homes held a ground blessing ceremony on November 2 in Plain City at the site of the future Hamlet on Darby, a residential community for adults aged 55+.

The ceremony featured a prayer of safety and peace over the land as work begins and for the future residents who will occupy the community.

A joint venture with The McCabe Companies, the property will feature 67 two-bedroom villas and townhomes on more than nine acres nestled against the wood-lined Big Darby Creek. The community will feature modern dwellings with attached garages, covered front porches and some will feature electric vehicle-ready units. The community neighborhood includes a pavilion with an outdoor firepit, several common areas, gardens, walking paths and connections to nearby bike paths.

Representatives from The McCabe Companies, Plain City Hamlet LLC, Mutual Federal, RDC Design-Build, Inc., Jody Carney, Mayor of Plain City and others part of the lending and design team were present for the event as well as President and Chief Executive Officer, Rev. Dr. Kenneth Daniel, and United Church Homes representatives.

“We are excited to partner with The McCabe Companies to bring a fresh new residential community to older adults in Plain City,” said Rev. Dr. Kenneth Daniel, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We believe The Hamlet on Darby will provide a neighborly residential experience and abundant living for all who call it home.”

Dwight McCabe, Principal of The McCabe Companies and a lifetime resident of Plain City, said his mother inspired the project, “She is an example of who is destined to live at The Hamlet on Darby. It’s time for her to leave the large family home. She doesn’t need any care or assistance, but she needs community like this.”

Pre-leasing will begin in March of 2023 and the first phase of construction is scheduled to be complete by July 2023. The project in its entirety estimates completion by February 2024.
